School Improvement Council (SIC)
Purpose
The purpose of the South Carolina School Improvement Council (SC-SIC) is to promote civic engagement and support quality public education in the state. The SC-SIC does this by providing resources, training, and accountability to local School Improvement Councils (SICs).
SICs are mandated by law to exist in every public school in South Carolina. They are made up of parents, educators, community members, and students who work together to improve their local school. Some examples of SIC initiatives include:
Improving parent communication
Promoting health and wellness
Improving reading, science, and math scores
Helping with behavioral issues
Advocating for equity of school funding
Increasing graduation and retention rates
Report to Parents
Meeting Dates
